He Speaks: Pretty Words
Y'all know I love to share a favorite thing, but really the coolest thing is how God speaks. I mean I just can't get over it! The Almighty God speaks to me?!!! What?!! That is crazy, ladies.
So here is something I started doing, praying for God to soften my heart. I have started to pray this each morning before I do my quiet time. (Thank you Lysa Terkeurst for this tidbit).
And you know I am a prayer journal, write out my thoughts kind of gal, so it really is the coolest thing to go back and look over the week, and sure enough, week after week, there is a repeating thought, or scripture, and then there you have it... HE SPEAKS!
So get on with it Hill, what was He speaking out?
My Words! Y'all the mouth, the tongue, our speech is so powerful, we know it, but do we tame it? So I am guilty of joining in conversations to well, just keep the conversation going and try to make everyone feel comfortable, and when us ladies start going down a road of talking not so nice, I am right there with you, traveling on the road together. I mean never leave a sister, right? Isn't that girl code or something? Now I am not talking about straight out bashing, we are pretty much over that. But I am talking about judgmental tones, or comments, or complaining, or self pity, or comparison, or all that other yuck.
So let me leave you with some scripture that spoke to me this week and you know the sermon would include it too, because I tell you God has a way of using a microphone for Mrs. Hardheaded.
So there you have it ladies, He Speaks! My prayer is this Ephesians verse, to speak life, to hold my tongue, and gosh my tone too! (You know that horrible tone you catch yourself using with your children, yeah that one). I KNOW, I can't do it alone, but with being aware, and the Holy Spirit, gosh I am going to try, and believe it or not, I actually caught myself twice this week! Like thoughts in the head, that never made it to my mouth. Now that my friends is the Holy Spirit, and for that I need to give a big Baptist girl Amen!
(Now for the pic...My wedding invitation is framed, and the lipstick is the lipstick I wore on that special day. I will never get rid of it. It is called Pretty by Paula Dorf, the makeup artist said it looks good on everyone, and I couldn't agree more. Pretty words look good on everyone!)
