He Speaks: Standing Out
He Speaks! This is a series to share what the Lord has put on my heart. Usually an idea, a verse or something that seems to present itself over and over and over again for my little, hard headed self. This week is all about standing out.
We have all been the red tulip right? Or maybe it's just me, but I have felt like this red tulip more times than I can count.... And then the most amazing thing happened this week, I came to one big huge aha moment, a conclusion that I am sure the Holy Spirit has been working on quite some time with me....
The Lord called you and me to be set apart.
It first started earlier this week when I was reading a devotion. I copied the lines that I needed to hear, and one line just struck me. You know the line that you keep thinking about the entire day. I mean I was literally thanking God out loud in my car for this simple truth. Yes I am a crazy person, and not a good driver...but back to my point.
"Hillary's a Christian, but it's okay. She's just like us."
Oh how I don't want this said about me...you see I actually DO want to be different when I get down and think about it. I mean this is a BIG aha moment for the gal who doesn't want to ruffle feathers, or tends to people please or prays for friendships to deepen, and loves to be included.
So my friends, it is ok...or maybe even better than ok, it is our calling to be set apart.
I hope this serves you as an encouragement or frees you from anxiety or excites you to live differently, and if you see me talking to myself in the car, just smile!
Here is a great article that speaks to friendships and our children.
